Potassium iodide is a white to colorless crystalline inorganic salt and an important iodine source. It is widely used in pharmaceuticals, nutrition supplements, iodized salt, analytical chemistry, photography, and chemical synthesis. Compared to potassium iodate, it is less stable in air and light and may slowly yellow due to iodine liberation.
