Bismuth hydroxide is an inorganic bismuth compound typically obtained as a white to off-white amorphous or gelatinous powder. It readily dehydrates on heating to form bismuth oxide (Bi₂O₃). Because of its low solubility and chemical stability, it is mainly used as an intermediate in the preparation of other bismuth salts and oxides.
