Sodium bisulphite is an inorganic sulphite supplied as an aqueous solution (commonly ~58% w/w) or as a solid that readily forms solutions. EP grade material is used as a reducing agent, antioxidant, and preservative in pharmaceutical processing, analytical chemistry, water treatment, and chemical manufacturing. It readily releases sulphur dioxide in acidic conditions.
