Ferrous Sulphide (FeS) is an inorganic iron(II) salt of sulfur, appearing as a black to dark gray powder. The commercial grade typically contains 67–72% FeS. It is primarily used in chemical synthesis, metallurgy, laboratory reagents, and as a precursor for other iron compounds. It is sparingly soluble in water and reacts with acids to release hydrogen sulfide gas.
