Copper oxide red, also known as cuprous oxide, is an inorganic copper compound where copper is in the +1 oxidation state. It is commonly used as a red pigment, antifouling agent, catalyst, and intermediate for copper salts. The compound is stable under normal conditions but can oxidize to black cupric oxide at elevated temperatures or on prolonged air exposure.
