Description

Cadmium carbonate appears as a white to off-white, fine amorphous or microcrystalline powder. It is odorless, insoluble in water, and soluble in dilute acids with effervescence due to the release of carbon dioxide. On heating, it decomposes rather than melts, forming cadmium oxide.
